Hyundai and Kia have issued a recall for the tow bar wiring harness sold through official dealers and fitted to the Sonata and Cerato.

Due to incorrect wiring, the faulty tow bar wiring harness might not allow the trailer hazard lights to flash when the car is turned off.

If the hazards aren't operating correctly, there's a risk other road users mightn't see a stopped or slowing car, increasing the risk of accident.

The original recall advertisement is attached here.

Hyundai and Kia will contact owners of the affected vehicles – which are only vehicles fitted with the tow bar kit, not all Sonata and Cerato models – and advise them to organise a free fix.
