Ferrari’s successor to the 488 GTB has landed in Australia, making its debut at a lavish event in Sydney last week. The Ferrari F8 Tributo will cost $484,888 plus on-road costs when it hits local showrooms early in 2020.

Powered by a 3.9-litre turbo V8 with an impressive 530kW of power at 8000rpm and an equally lavish 770Nm of torque at 3250rpm, the F8 Tributo is the most powerful V8 Ferrari ever made.

The sprint to triple figures takes just 2.9 seconds while 0-200km/h is covered in just 7.8 seconds. Top speed is rated at 340km/h.

Visually, there’s no denying the F8 Tributo’s 488 origins. However, the aggression has been dialled up with newly-designed front and rear bumpers, and an aggressive bonnet featuring a Pista-style S-Duct.

New headlights cleverly incorporate air intakes to aid brake cooling while at the rear, Ferrari fans will be pleased to see the return of four afterburner-style tail-lights. There’s also a Lexan rear window with louvres to help remove hot air from the engine bay.

Inside, a redesigned dashboard features new round air vents framed by a smaller-diameter steering wheel. The passenger scores a 7.0-inch touchscreen.

Australia’s allocation for the F8 Tributo remains unknown at this stage with Ferrari Australasia CEO Herbert Appleroth telling CarAdvice it’s “not enough”.

“They’re not necessarily all sold,” said Appleroth. “We don’t know what our production will be over the entire lifecycle. The level of enquiry and the level of order portfolio already is quite staggering. Considering that this is the first time our clients have had a chance to see this is tonight.

“We’re still delivering 488 Pista, Pista Spider so to have the successor also in market at the same time, the level sales we’ve got is quite outstanding.”
