Off-road themed special edition pays tribute to the Pathfinder nameplate's 'off-road heritage' with unique exterior and interior appointments for that go-anywhere look and feel.

Nissan North America has revealed the Pathfinder Rock Creek Edition, essentially an off-road styling package for its three-row SUV.

The company says the special edition emphasises "the rugged Pathfinder heritage", acknowledging the rugged capabilities of previous generations that were based on the Navara ute.

Buyers can opt for the Rock Creek package for an additional US$995 ($1375.64) over the base car, available on both SV and SL variants in the US with two-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

Key specification differences include model-specific 18-inch alloy wheels shod in 255/60 all-season tyres, a black mesh grille, black roof rails, black door handles and side mirrors, black front and rear fascia trims, black wheel arch extensions, and black badging throughout.

Inside, the Rock Creek Edition can be distinguished by its two-tone seat colourway, special badging, metallic interior trim inserts, and contrast topstitching throughout the cabin.

Rounding out the extra kit is a standard trailer tow hitch and harness, along with splash guards.

Two further option packages are available to bolster the Rock Creek Edition's appeal, including the Technology Package (US$980, $1354.90) which adds the NissanConnect navigation system with live traffic updates, along with heated front seats, steering wheel and side mirrors.

Meanwhile the Premium Package (US$2110, $2917.18) brings a Bose 13-speaker premium sound system and a powered panoramic sunroof.

American buyers can get their hands on a Pathfinder Rock Creek Edition when it goes on sale during the Northern Hemisphere's spring (March-May).
