2019 Kia Picanto GT pricing and specs
Kia's new turbo'd tyke touches down from $17,990 drive-away.
Kia has revealed its new turbocharged Picanto GT will be priced from $17,990 drive-away, just $500 more than the existing GT-Line variant.
That extra outlay brings a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine, making 74kW and 172Nm. That's up from the 62kW and 122Nm you get in the naturally-aspirated 1.25L engine in the regular Picanto.
Want more good news? It's mated to a five-speed manual, instead of a four-speed automatic. Huzzah!
From the outside, there's very little to separate the GT from the existing GT-Line model. That means it gets orange accents around the exterior, twin exhaust pipes, 16-inch alloy wheels with 195/45 tyres, and chrome highlights on the doorhandles.
There's also, naturally, a GT badge on the boot lid to let people know you're driving the turbo'd Picanto. Along with the extra power, drivers will be able to tell thanks to a stiffer, sportier suspension tune and sharper steering than standard.
Standard equipment includes autonomous emergency braking, six airbags, and forward collision warning, along with niceties like a four-speaker audio system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, power front windows and a choice between four exterior colours.
As with the X-Line and GT-Line models revealed late last year, the GT gets red-and-black trim on the seats and doors, along with a leather-trimmed steering wheel with contrast stitching.
