Mini Australia has announced the JCW Millbrook Edition, a special version of its three-door performance hatch to be available in strictly limited numbers.
Just 20 units will be offered locally, priced from $57,275 plus on-road costs. That's over $7000 more than the 'standard' JCW hatchback, though there are some specification upgrades to justify the extra spend.
For starters, there's the exclusive 'Ice Blue' metallic paint, which is 'Heritage' paintwork according to Mini. Black 17-inch light alloys with run-flat tyres fill the arches, front driving lights with covers – a nod to the Mini rally cars of the 1960s – black mirror caps, roof and bonnet stripes, along with the Black Line exterior trim package.
There's also sun protection glazing, a panoramic sunroof, Lounge leather upholstery, heated front seats, Piano Black dash trim, and an eight-speed sports automatic transmission with paddles and Launch Control. All these are normally optional on the JCW, and together would total $7850 over the base JCW manual (and that's minus the paint).
Carryover features include an 8.8-inch touchscreen navigation system with wireless Apple CarPlay, a 12-speaker harman/kardon premium sound system, adaptive suspension, head-up display, LED headlights, Union Jack LED tail-lights, anthracite headliner, front and rear parking sensors with Park Assist, dual-zone climate control, and automatic wipers.
Power comes from the familiar 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine making 170kW and 320Nm, sending drive exclusively to the front wheels via the aforementioned eight-speed sports automatic.
