The second-generation Genesis G80 has been spied doing hot laps around the Nurburgring Nordschleife.
With the car bra ditched, we can clearly see the new model's much sleeker shape and many of its design details, including the more heavily raked rear windscreen, plunging boot line, and integrated boot spoiler.
From side on, the rear half of the new G80 seems to be heavily inspired by the Audi A7 fastback.
To go along with this, there are more expressive styling details elsewhere, including a heavy shoulder crease, especially over the front and rear wheel arches.
Up front there's a deep five-point grille like the one used on the Essentia concept, flanked by two seperate headlight strips on each side.
What will power the new car is up in the air, but the current G80 is offered with a range of V6 and V8 engines running from 3.3-litres to 5.0-litres in displacement. Given the market's shift toward electrification, a plug-in hybrid is also likely.
Although Genesis has been launched as a standalone brand in South Korea and North America, the marque has yet to make its official debut on the Australian market.
The Australian launch has been pushed back to final quarter of this 2018. During its early stages, the Australian range will be limited to the G70 and G80, an updated version of the car we currently know as the Hyundai Genesis.
The range-topping G90 ruled out as it is only available in left-hand drive.
