Sports Series track star spied at the 'Ring ahead of June 28 reveal.

The upcoming McLaren Sports Series track hero, currently dubbed the 600LT, has been spied at the Nurburgring ahead of an official reveal later today.

For the first time we get a glimpse of the full vehicle, rather than the partial teaser images McLaren has released over the past fortnight.

Compared to the 540C and 570S, the 600LT gets a far more aggressive aero package, including the massive rear diffuser, along with a bigger rear spoiler and top-mounted exhaust pipes.

It's believed the 600LT will get an uprated version of the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 used in the 540C, 570S and 570GT, tuned to deliver 600PS (441kW), hence the adopted '600LT' name.

Currently, the 570S and 570GT make 419kW and 600Nm, enough for a claimed 0-100km/h sprint in just 3.2 seconds (570S) – expect the 600LT to better that slightly thanks to its reduced weight and extra power over the 'standard' Sports Series range.

McLaren Automotive has already confirmed it will reveal the new car online, as well as its official name, on June 28 at 13:00 BST (10:00PM AEST), before attempting the Goodwood Hillclimb on July 12.

It'll have more power, less weight, optimised aerodynamics and "enhanced driver engagement" compared to the cars on which it's based, for a more track-focused drive. The new model is the fifth to be announced under the company's Track22 business plan.

Like the Senna, McLaren has confirmed this new model will be built in limited numbers – "limited to the few", to be precise.
