With a new, retro-inspired snout

Dodge has teased the 2019 Challenger SRT Hellcat, with a mean retro-inspired look up front.

We don't know anything about the supercharged V8 lurking under the bonnet, but that bonnet itself (or hood, in American speak) has gained a dual-snorkel air intake.

It's designed to bring to mind Mopar muscle from the mid-1960s and early-1970s, but Dodge also says it will ram even more air into the hungry Hemi V8 lurking within.

At the moment, the Hellcat produces 527kW of power and 880Nm of torque. There's no word on whether those outputs will be upped for 2019, but we do know the 6.2-litre engine has more to give – in SRT Demon trim, it's been boosted to 626kW and 1044Nm.

Given it's been around since 2008 in some form or another – there's been facelifts – you could be forgiven for wondering when an all-new model is on the way. We're wondering the same thing, but there's no indication of any plans for a new model.
