2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan leaked

China-focused variant surfaces online ahead of Beijing reveal

The all-new Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan has been outed in a single image online, ahead of its official reveal at the Beijing motor show later this week.

In terms of design, the A-Class Sedan looks largely identical to the related hatchback from the B-pillar forward, but features a traditional sedan roofline and boot at the rear.

Compared to the upcoming CLA, the three-box A-Class will have a less-sloping roofline for better headroom and passenger space, along with a more traditional sedan shape at the rear compared to the slinky proportions of the CLA. Expect the differences to be similar to those  between the larger E-Class and CLS.

While official details will be revealed later this week, the A-Class Sedan should feature the same range of turbocharged small-capacity engines as the A-Class hatchback, though its Chinese focus may mean a limited availability of diesel options.

An AMG A45 variant is believed to be in the works to take on the Audi RS3, while the hatch's MBUX infotainment system and suite of driver assistance systems should feature as well.

Stay tuned to CarAdvice for our coverage of the Beijing motor show later this week.
