But it's not confirmed for Australia
Ladies and gentlemen, it's official. Order books for the production version of the Honda Urban EV Concept will open early in 2019 for Europe. The production car will officially arrive during "late 2019".
“A production version of this highly acclaimed concept will be introduced to Europe during late 2019, and in response to the positive feedback to this model, we expect to open order banks for the Urban EV during early 2019," confirmed Philip Ross, senior vice president for Honda Europe.
As for Australia? Timing – or indeed confirmation – hasn't been nailed down.
"We're really excited by the confirmation of production for Europe but at this stage there are no plans for Australia," Neil McDonald, communications boss for Honda Australia, told CarAdvice. Our fingers and toes are crossed, because the concept was truly something special.
Styled to look like the first-generation Civic hatchback, it ran with unusually slim front pillars and cutesy light signatures at both ends.
The dashboard is home to a wraparound infotainment screen extending into the doors, presenting driver information, entertainment details and serving the role of rear-view mirrors.
Bench seats front-and-rear are trimmed in grey fabric, offset by wooden trim on the dashboard. How much of the concept cool will carry to production remains to be seen.
