2019 Toyota Supra spied

Flagship sports car goes skiing with less disguise

The upcoming Toyota Supra has been spied wearing less camouflage this week, ahead of an anticipated reveal later this year.

Compared to previous spy images, we get a clearer look at the LED headlights – which feature indicators spanning the entire bottom edge of the lenses – different alloy wheels, and a prominent lip on the lower front bumper.

At the back, the rear diffuser is more visible and appears closer to a 'production version', while the large tailpipes and slim LED tail-lights are visible through the attached snow. Those gills in the rear fenders could be for brake cooling, or to improve aerodynamics.

We know now the new Supra will be previewed at the Geneva motor show next month with a "modern racing concept", though further details about the production car are still very hard to come by.

Rumour has it the new Supra will offer both V6 and hybrid powertrain options, but nothing has been confirmed at this stage.

We do know the new Toyota sports car will have a lot in common with the new BMW Z4 under the skin, though the two brands have taken pretty different directions in terms of each model's personality.
