Speeding drivers’ ridiculous excuse for doing 20kph over the limit

This has to take the cake!

A motorist gave police a very creative excuse for speeding in Western Australia last month.

When police clocked the driver travelling at 82km/h in a 60 zone in Mandurah, the driver said he was late for his dog's pedicure. "I am taking my dog to get her nails clipped and am running late," the infringement notice read.

The driver was fined $400 for the infraction, with police describing it as "the best excuse this week". The fine was later posted to the WA Police's Twitter account.

This isn't the first creative excuse we have seen though.

Western Australian cops certainly have a sense of humour when it comes to strange excuses for speeding.

A truck driver was pulled over for driving 37km/h above a 60 speed zone. When asked if he had any reason for speeding, the man confessed he had to go to the toilet. "I needed to s***, the kids have given me gastro," he said.

In June another driver was at a loss for a legitimate reason for speeding at 135m/h in a 100 zone, instead simply stating that he was "just being a d**k".

We think this one takes the cake, though. This chap was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit by 25km/h. When questioned, he told them: "I'm really low on fuel so I'm in a rush to get there."
