The high-performance tyre has been designed to offer consumers a safe and sporty option that can be fitted to their car to replace OEM tyres.
Available in 16 different sizes ranging from 17- to 20-inch and 215 to 275mm width, Pirelli expects to expand the product offering in the coming months.
The Dragon Sport tyre is built in Pirelli's Yanzhou plant in China from a full silica compound.
Pirelli's engineering team used alternative Pirelli models and competitor tyres during the Dragon Sport development process and determined that braking and dry handling performance increased by five per cent, while wet handling showed an impressive 10 per cent improvement.
The Dragon Sport tyre has a lightweight feature set that offers low rolling resistance and a focus on sports driving without a trade-off for comfort.
Further work to the tyre also ensured a squarer footprint, which in turn increases the amount of contact with the road, resulting in increased tyre performance.
The construction of the tyre features transversal grooves that are designed to optimise braking performance, four broader grooves for water dispersion and a unique external shoulder rib design.
CarAdvice hit the Shanghai F1 circuit to test both the new Pirelli P Zero tyre and Pirelli Dragon Sport in what turned out to be very wet conditions. Check out the review and pictures of us putting the new treads through their paces.
