The Ferrari GTC4 Lusso is the new name for a facelift and upgrade of one of the most controversial, albeit one of the most practical, Ferraris of modern times, the FF.

While the overall shape of the shooting brake-style coupe/hatch mashup hasn't been altered, Ferrari has remodelled every exterior panel.

Under the hood, there's a reworked 6.3-litre V12 that now generates 507kW of power. Maximum torque has been upped to 697Nm at 5750rpm, with around 80 percent of that available from 1750rpm. The car's all-wheel drive system has been upgraded to include rear-wheel steering.


Ferrari claims that the revised vehicle can complete the 0-100km/h sprint in 3.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 335km/h.

Compared to the FF, the GTC4 Lusso is up 22kW and 14Nm on its forebear, and is 0.3 of second faster to 100km/h. The top speed is unaltered.

Up front, there's a new bonnet and front bumper, which incorporates a full width grille and redesigned front spoiler. The shape of the hockey stick headlights is subtly sharper than before, while the internal graphics are completely overhauled.

Along the flanks, Ferrari has relieved the FF of its slightly slab sided looks by giving the GTC4 Lusso a wavy continuous shoulder line from the back of the bonnet to the trailing edge of the car.


The company has also scalloped away the lower section of doors and fenders to give the side profile even more contouring. Additionally the vent built into the front fenders is now rectangular and features angled slats.

Around the back, there are now dual afterburner-style tail-lights on each side of the car. The rear hatch has also been reworked to incorporate a new spoiler up top, while its glass area flows seamlessly into the new panoramic roof.

The rear bumper and diffuser have been redesigned to be more overly aggressive than the FF's.


On the inside, the changes are even more comprehensive. The dashboard, while sticking to same design template, is now divided into a new "dual cockpit" layout. Ahead of the passenger is a narrow touchscreen that can be used to display overall speed, engine speed, current gear and a G-force meter.

There's also a completely revised centre section that houses a new 10.25-inch tablet-style high-resolution infotainment touchscreen interface, allowing for many buttons to be eliminated and the overall design cleaned up.


Ferrari has also comprehensively redesigned the car's centre console, door panels and seats for a more modern and streamlined look.

The Ferrari GTC4 Lusso will make its physical debut at the Geneva motor at the end of this month.

Australian update: The company's local arm expects the GTC4 Lusso to arrive in the country either at the end of 2016 or the beginning of 2017. Pricing has yet to be confirmed, but interested parties can start placing orders from the beginning of the Geneva motor show.
