2016 Great Wall New Cars

Great Wall remains in limbo in Australia as Chinese parent company Great Wall Motors and Australian distributor Ateco Automotive continue to wrestle over the brand.

Ateco wants to be rid of the stalled brand but wants compensation from Great Wall Motors for being forced to give it up, while the parent company – which recently launched the Haval brand in our market – wants to take over local distribution rights but doesn’t want to hand over big cash to Ateco.

The Great Wall brand will emerge from the dispute, though it will very much have to start from the beginning again after essentially being halted this year.

No new Great Wall vehicles were imported to Australia in 2015 and only about 140 were sold, after 2600 were delivered in 2014 and more than 11,000 were purchased in 2012.
