The Toyota HiLux Black special edition is now available in Australia, offering a host of unique interior and exterior styling enhancements designed to toughen the look of the top-selling ute.

Priced from $53,240 in five-speed manual form and $55,990 with the optional five-speed automatic transmission, the HiLux Black costs $500-$1500 more than the HiLux SR5 4x4 dual-cab on which it’s based. The optional Eclipse Black paint costs $550 extra, while the standard Glacier White finish is free.

Exclusive elements of the special edition ute include black 17-inch alloy wheels, side steps, sports bars, and leather-accented interior.

Unique front and rear bumpers feature LED daytime running lights and red stripes along their lower edges, while black extensions below the front fog lights enhance the ute’s sporty appearance.

The involvement of global partner TRD in the cosmetic enhancements is acknowledged by logos on the front bumper extensions and the wheel caps.

The cabin gains a six-way electric driver’s seat, joining the base SR5’s already standard 6.1-inch display screen, reverse-view camera and satellite navigation.

The Toyota HiLux Black is available exclusively with the brand’s 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine that produces 126kW of power and 360Nm of torque and uses 8.7 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres on the combined cycle.

Toyota Australia says fewer than 1000 HiLux Black utes will be produced for the Australian market.

The Toyota HiLux Black arrives in local showrooms just days after Holden launched the Colorado Black Edition. The duo will be joined early next year by the Volkswagen Amarok Dark Label special edition.
