Just 250 F-Type Project 7s will be produced by Jaguar's new Special Operations division, which has been tasked with taking on BMW's M and Mercedes-Benz' AMG divisions, as well as making replicas of classic Jags and creating bespoke vehicles for high net-worth clients.
Under the bonnet there's retuned version of the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 that does service in the F-Type R coupe. For the Project 7 this motor develops 423kW of power and 680Nm of torque, which is up from the 405kW available in the F-Type R; maximum torque output remains unchanged.
Power is sent to ground via the rear wheels, an eight-speed automatic grearbox and an electronic torque vectoring system. The F-Type Project 7 rides on 20-inch alloy wheels attached to a more firmly sprung suspension setup. There's also a new set of anti-roll bars, front suspension knuckles and carbon ceramic brakes fitted as standard.
According to Jaguar the F-Type Project 7 can race from 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 304km/h. The Project 7's carbon fibre front splitter, rear diffuser, more prominent side skirts and large rear wing generate 177 per cent more downforce than the F-Type V8 S roadster.
Unlike the Project 7 concept car that made a splash at last year's Goodwood festival, the production version has seating for two. There's also a temporary fabric roof that's stored in the boot and can be manually erected should a little sprinkle turn into a torrential downpour.
The spirit of the concept car's shorter windscreen and the hump behind the driver are kept for the production vehicle. Buyers can choose from four colours (green, blue, red and white) that are paired with deletable stripes and circles.
In the UK, the new Jaguar F-Type Project 7 will retail for 135,000 pounds ($245,000). We're waiting to hear back from Jaguar Australia as to whether the Project 7 will be available in Australia and what price tag it will carry should it make the trip.
