The Walkinshaw W457 package boosts output of the Holden Commodore's 6.0-litre V8 from 270kW/530Nm to 457kW/780Nm (bettering the production HSV GTS), while the W497 package elevates HSV's 6.2-litre V8 from 317kW/550Nm to an almighty 497kW/955Nm.
Both supercharged W457 and W497 packages cost $18,990 and are available across sedan, wagon and ute body styles, meaning they can be had from as little as $57,980 as a ready-to-drive SS Ute and $77,980 as an HSV Maloo.
The extreme performance gains are achieved through a long list of enhancements including a WP230 supercharger package, large high-flow injectors, Eaton Twin Vortices 2300 Series Gen VI rotors, a water-to-air intercooler package, custom-moulded heater and intercooler hoses, cast aluminium coil covers, injection-moulded cold-air intake package, heavy-duty serpentine belt drive system, 12-inch intake runners, self-contained oil system, and a full stainless steel exhaust system with ceramic-coated headers and high-flow catalytic converters.
Walkinshaw Performance general manager Tony Harris says the packages represent “the pinnacle of Australian automotive design and engineering capabilities”.
“On power figures alone it’s impressive, but as we always say: driveability is the number one goal and we believe that these W Series twins are exceedingly well mannered in this key area,” Harris said.
“That said, it’s hard to hide the performance results and these cars are guaranteed to bring a smile to the face of every motoring enthusiast.”
Like all Walkinshaw creations, vehicles equipped with the W457 and W497 packages retain Holden and HSV’s three-year/100,000km warranty and come with a certificate of authenticity.
