Lexus will start 2012 with a big bang, showcasing a brand new sports car concept at the Detroit motorshow on January 9
before going on to launch the new GS sedan before July.
At this stage no other product updates are on the schedule, but we suspect minor revisions to the RX luxury SUV are likely, and a more powerful version of the CT200h (CT250h?) may be in the pipeline.
Vehicle type: Luxury car. Timing: Second quarter
The all-new Lexus GS will be the biggest product launch for the Japanese company next year, bringing about a new generation of design, sophistication and driving dynamics.
The Toyota owned brand will initially launch the GS with petrol models only and follow through with hybrid variants towards the year’s end. Despite the sales success of the BMW 5 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class diesel models, Lexus is unlikely to bring diesel GS models to market any time soon (if ever).
