Audi Q7 Ute takes on BMW M3 Ute

The Germans are famous for playing follow the leader with new vehicle designs.

Mercedes-Benz famously came out with the CLS, and BMW and Audi responded with the 5 Series GT and the A7 Sportback. The M-Class was followed by the X5 and Q7, and more recently Q5 has matched X3 and Q3 will take on X1. The list goes on…

It should come as little surprise then that following the April Fools’ Day joke of the BMW M3 Ute, an Audi Q7 Ute has been spotted doing the rounds.

These images, first posted by AutoGuide, reveal the Q7 pick-up creation at an unknown location.

It’s not known at this stage whether the Q7 Ute has been developed by Audi or is simply the work of an enthusiastic tuner.

There’s no news yet on a potential 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show appearance, although don’t hold your breath for the production announcement, as like the M3 Ute, it will almost certainly be a once off.

Now that we can see the two side by side, which do you prefer: the BMW M3 Ute or the Audi Q7 Ute? Let us know in the comments section below.
