Skoda teases upcoming Spaceback
Skoda has given another preview of its forthcoming Rapid hatchback, releasing a shadowy preview sketch of the car.
It follows in the wake of the Vision RS concept revealed at the 2018 Paris motor show last week which gave an idea of what to expect from the five-door hatch.
Skoda has confirmed it will be built on the Volkswagen Group’s ‘A0 MQB’ underpinnings, which currently sits beneath the Volkswagen Polo and T-Roc as well as the new Skoda Karoq SUV. The Czech brand hasn’t revealed any further details on the Rapid’s dimensions but - like the current vehicle - it is expected to slot between the Fabia city car and Octavia small car, roughly the same size as a Volkswagen Golf.
The teaser image and the Vision RS concept suggest the Rapid will adopt the angular lines currently favoured by the company’s designers.
Powertrains are likely to include the Volkswagen Group’s 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol and 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol.
The new Rapid will be fully unveiled before the end of 2018 before going on sale in 2019.
