The battle is heating up between classic V8-powered muscle car combatants Ford and Holden. In the blue corner is a new supercharged V8 that has raised the game for Ford's performance arm, FPV. In the red corner, Holden's hothouse partner has pumped out the updated HSV E3 range, with more toys added to an accomplished if unchanged V8.
There are a few styling tweaks with the new E3, such as revised brackets holding the rear wing in place; the hexagonal shape matches the look of the "shockwave" shaped exhaust outlets. It also picks up the revised bootlid fitted to the Commodore.
Inside, too, HSV has added more differentiation, with a new instrument cluster and a revised centre console as well as a new touchscreen display that, with an advanced data-logging feature, takes the Holden iQ System to a new level.
The HSV E3 is also the first model available with a new optional liquid-injected LPG system called LPI, or liquid propane injection.
