Citroen C5 2.0 HDI
Citroen's C5 has been rather an afterthought in the luxury car rankings since its local revival in 2001.
The all-new C5 may change all that, however. While it continues the Citroen style-revival begun by the C4 and C6, it also backs up its considerable visual flair with an enticing combination of value, safety, comfort and driving promise.
WHAT DO YOU GET?
The new C5 is an all-diesel proposition and is priced from $51,990 for the 2.0HDi Comfort (the sedan tested here).
It's exceedingly well equipped for the money, with leather seats, climate control, cruise control, trip computer, auto headlights/wipers and heated, power front seats (with a massage function for the driver) included. A wagon is $3000 more.
For a reasonable $5000 premium, the V6HDi range-topper adds a 2.7-litre twin-turbo V6 diesel, and starts at $65,490.
