Subaru Forester STI is back
Teaser images preview next-generation performance soft-roader ahead of likely November 25 reveal.
The Subaru Forester STI is back.
Or at least, that's the impression given by a new series of teaser images shown online overnight.
One of the original performance SUVs is expected to be officially reinstated on November 25, when Subaru will reportedly reveal the next-generation model based on its regular Forester XT.
The early teaser images reveal the STI will wear a tarted up exterior with flared guards, larger wheels and multi-caliper brakes. The hotted-up Forester will reportedly feature more aggressive aerodynamics and cooling, too.
Under the bonnet, it's expected the new model will bring a turbocharged four-cylinder engine closely related to that found in the 221kW WRX STI. All-wheel drive grip is a surety, however the overall power output is yet to be confirmed.
While the Forester STI was one of the very first performance SUVs, the new generation model will find itself in a competitive segment now featuring the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG and Audi RSQ3.
It is yet to be confirmed whether the Forester STI will be available locally as Subaru Australia has been contacted for comment.
