‘Stop sale’ notice issued for 2022 Isuzu D-Max 1.9-litre variants, Mazda not affected

A ‘stop sale’ notice has been issued for new 1.9-litre turbo diesel variants of the Isuzu D-Max ute, to investigate a possible engine sensor fault.

The Mazda BT-50 – the twin to the Isuzu D-Max, available with the same 1.9-litre diesel engine and made on the same production line – is not affected by the ‘stop sale’ notice, says Mazda Australia, though it's unclear why there is a distinction.

Isuzu Ute dealers across Australia have been advised: “A number of reports have been received from the market in regards to incorrect data produced by one of the engine-related sensors, specifically for the variants powered by the 1.9-litre turbo diesel four-cylinder.  

“While further information is being gathered and investigated, Isuzu Ute Australia has decided to temporarily stop both the wholesale and customer deliveries of 1.9-litre variants until further notice,” the statement continued.

“We understand this will cause further inconvenience to customers who have already been waiting for their vehicles to arrive and be delivered,” said the Isuzu Ute Australia notice.

“However, it is the appropriate response to investigate the issue further before allowing vehicles to be sold or delivered.”

Isuzu Ute Australia said it is “aiming to finalise a direction in regards to this matter as quickly and as efficiently as possible” and will update dealers and customers as soon as a resolution is implemented.
