Skoda hints at stylish coupe

Four-door model to echo Volkswagen’s CC.

Skoda has teased car enthusiasts with a drawing that points to a new look for its line-up.

The Vision C design study, set to be revealed in the metal at the Geneva motor show in March, hints at a new direction for Volkswagen’s budget arm.

Skoda says it is renewing and broadening its entire range of models with an evolutionary design language.

How that translates to real life remains to be seen, but a four-door Skoda coupe with similar proportions to the Audi A7 could offer big-car style for small-car money.

The Czech brand’s sketch hints at sharply creased body panels and crisp, minimalist detailing worlds away from the odd-ball styling of its Yeti compact SUV

If brought to life, a road-going version could take the form of a discounted Volkswagen CC, the German brand’s own Passat-based coupe.

Such a car would be powered by the Volkswagen group’s range of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines paired with a dual clutch automatic transmission.
