Seat supports speed skating record run – Video
Speedy skater trails SUV is search of snow-covered record
Ice skating isn't a traditional Aussie past time, and Seat cars aren't sold Down Under, but combining the two makes for an interesting video.
Kjeld Nuis won't be familiar to the majority of readers, but he won two speed skating gold medals at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games, topping 60km/h in the process.
The result, which we won't spoil, required a special suit, a towable deflector to create a slipstream, a car with an on-board minder and a frozen lake in Sweden – not to mention months of planning, practice and sleepless nights.
Swedish touring car racer, Mikaela Ahlin-Kottulinsky, piloted the Seat Ateca lead car. She needed to maintain a perfectly straight line and accelerate at a very deliberate pace, which is no mean feat on sheet ice.
Check out the record run in the documentary above, and let us know what you think in the comments.
