Rowan Atkinson’s Lexus LFA supercar up for sale

A rare Lexus supercar belonging to comedy actor – and passionate car collector and automotive scribe – Rowan Atkinson has hit the UK classifieds.

An ultra-exclusive Lexus LFA supercar owned by famous British comedian Rowan Atkinson has been listed for sale at £874,995 ($AU1.7 million) on website Pistonheads.

Known for his passion for high-performance cars – including a McLaren F1 the comedian infamously crashed for a second time in 2011 and later sold for $AU15 million – Atkinson has owned some of the world’s most capable and sought-after vehicles.

While his most famous character Mr Bean has been seen steering a Mini from a roof-top lounge chair with a piece of rope, the Lexus LFA is a significantly more sophisticated piece of hardware.

Built in 2012 as one of only 198 right-hand-drive examples from a total global production run of 500 cars, Pistonheads says Atkinson has owned the Pearl White LFA since 2022, with the vehicle residing in Japan before it was relocated to the UK.

Capable of 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds and a 327km/h top speed, the two-door rear-wheel-drive supercar is powered by a 4.8-litre V10 petrol engine revving to a high 8700rpm producing 412kW and 480Nm.

The mid-mounted engine – known as the 1LR-GUE – features high-performance hardware including forged pistons, titanium valves and a titanium rear silencer.

It uses a six-speed automated-manual paddle-shift transmission to feed power to the rear wheels – which are 20-inch BBS forged alloys housing ceramic-composite brakes.

The LFA’s chassis is made of carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP), a material offering strength and low weight used in Formula One and aerospace industries, with aluminium front and rear subframes to mount suspension and other components.

Its external bodywork includes a rear wing which raises automatically above 80km/h.

The interior features a bright blue and red colour scheme, with heated seats, premium Mark Levinson audio as well as three driving modes and the ability to alter the speed of gear changes.

The Atkinson-owned vehicle has an odometer reading of only 4000 miles (6437km).

That’s slightly higher mileage than a left-hand-drive 2012 LFA sold in the US on 8 April 2024 for $US903,111 ($AU1.36 million) on website Bring A Trailer, which only listed 2600 miles (4184km).

Atkinson’s LFA has a lower odometer reading than a white right-hand-drive LFA currently listed at £1,020,000 ($AU1.95 million) with 7159 miles (11,521km) at Prestige Motor Warehouse.

Only 10 LFAs were brought into Australia after it officially went on sale in 2011, with a list price of $700,000 before on-road costs.
