Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid revealed
Flagship brings new levels of power and luxury.
If you like your performance to have a greenish hue, then Porsche has the answer.
Porsche is set to debut its new range-topping plug-in Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid at the upcoming 2017 Geneva motor show.
The new four-door saloon takes the existing Panamera Turbo's 404kW/770Nm 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 and whacks an electric motor in for good measure, which brings total outputs up to 500kW and 850Nm.
This extra performance allows the E-Hybrid to sprint from 0-100km/h in a claimed 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 310km/h.
It comes equipped with Porsche's eight-speed PDK transmission with power delivered to all-four wheels.
All these impressive statistics are matched by the swoopy four-door's claimed fuel use which comes in at a bargain basement figure of just 2.9L/100km - albeit this is based on claims that the green machine can run on electric power alone for up to 50km. Either way it is still a mighty figure, especially when compared to the standard Turbo's claimed 9.3L/100km.
Power is supplied to the electric motor via a 14.1kWh lithium ion battery that can be fully charged in roughly six hours by conventional methods.
The all-wheel drive performance limousine matches the standard Turbo for cabin ambience with an extensive use of premium materials and stately 21-inch alloy wheels on the outside while also incorporating performance features such as adaptive aerodynamic elements.
Pricing starts from $460,100 before on-road costs, which is a sizeable premium compared to the $376,900 that the regular Turbo commands.
The Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is now on sale in Australia with deliveries commencing in the third quarter.
