Porsche Panamera Recalled
Since Porsche made the bold move to enter the 4 door coupe market in 2009 with the Panamera, the brand has struggled with the new models popularity. The questionable styling of the vehicle has made the Panamera the most controversial new Porsche since the release of the Cayenne in 2003.
It appears that Porsche will continue to struggle swaying buyers from the Aston Martin Rapide, Mercedes CLS and Maserati Quattroporte after the announcement that each of the 11,900 Panamera models built since 2009 will be recalled. A fault with seat belt tensioners has been revealed, prompting this action.
Product Safety Recalls Australia website says: “If the front seats are adjusted very far, resulting in unfavorable tolerances, the seat belt mount can become detached from the anchoring system when you fasten or open the seat belt. The restraint function of the belt system can then no longer be guaranteed.”.
This is a serious safety defect which has prompted Porsche to act swiftly with the mass recall of the company’s newest model.
Porsche has been renowned for its high level of quality featured across its model range. Though this is understood to be the 4th Recall for Porsche in as many years. 2009 saw the Cayenne V6 recalled with a fuel line fault and in 2006 both 997 Carrera and Carrera S models were recalled after defects were found with Handbrake leavers and exhaust welds.
