Italy’s Pininfarina Battista Edizione Nino Farina electric supercar revealed

The car-making division of Italian car-design company Pininfarina – known for its work with Ferrari, among other brands – has unveiled a new limited-edition electric hypercar inspired by its racing heritage.

The car-making arm of Italian car-design firm Pininfarina – which has styled a fleet of iconic models from Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia and more – has unveiled a new special edition of its Battista electric hypercar.

Named the Pininfarina Battista Edizione Nino Farina, the vehicle pays homage to Giuseppe 'Nino' Farina, the first-ever Formula One World Champion and the nephew of Battista 'Pinin' Farina, the founder of the Pininfarina design house.

Limited to five examples, the Pininfarina Battista Edizione Nino Farina uses the same quad-motor drivetrain as the standard Battista – and the Nevera from Croation electric-car start-up Rimac – generating 1400kW and 2340Nm, powered by a 120kWh lithium-ion battery.

Pininfarina claims a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 1.86 seconds, and a top speed of 350km/h.

Each of the five Battista Edizione Nino Farina models celebrates a different milestone in Nino Farina's racing career – such as his birth date, birth place, first F1 pole position, and first F1 victory at the 1950 British Grand Prix.

The example of the special edition set to debut in the UK this weekend is finished in Rosso Nino paint is claimed to have been "chosen to evoke memories of the Italian racing red paintwork of the cars in which [Farina] enjoyed his greatest victories," according to Pininfarina.

The two-tone interior of the Edizione Nino Farina features a driver's seat upholstered in black leather and a passenger seat in contrasting beige and black Alcantara.

Both seats bear a unique quilting pattern and are adorned with 'Nino Farina' embroidery, laurel wreath graphics, and the Pininfarina logo.

The Pininfarina Battista Edizione Nino Farina will make its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK, where it will be driven up the Goodwood 'hill climb' by former Formula One driver and Pininfarina test driver Nick Heidfeld.
