NISMO and Gigawave Motorsports have released a handful of details on the R35 GT-R FIA championship contender developed through their collaborative efforts.
The GT-R GT1 car will debut at Silverstone on May 3rd and will then compete in a further three races this year, before going on to contest the entire 2010 season.
To the surprise of, well, no-one, the 3.8 litre twin turbo V6 engine has been dropped in favour of a series-specific naturally aspirated V8. The 5.6 litre VK56DE now shoehorned into the GT1’s engine bay pumps out a lazy 448kW (600hp) and 656Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque.
A Ricardo-sourced six-speed transmission replaces Nissan’s GR6 and transfers power through a triple-plate carbon clutch - to the rear wheels only.
Sitting beneath the 18x13 inch RAYS forged wheels are six-piston calipers and dinner plate sized carbon-ceramic discs. Stopping power? Check.
No doubt a host of other modifications has been made, but for now these details have been kept under wraps.
