New Renault Koleos prices revealed

French brand has unveiled its new mid-size SUV.

Renault's new Koleos SUV will make its global sales debut in Australia when it hits showrooms from the start of August.

Renault will offer a three tier Koleos range, doing away with the previous Expression, Bose and Bose Premium naming structure and replacing it with Life, Zen and Intens variants.

All models are powered by the same 2.5-litre petrol engine that produces 126kW and 226Nm, and are paired exclusively to a CVT transmission with a variety of front-wheel and all-wheel drive options.

The Renault Koleos Life is priced from $29,990 before on-road costs, which slightly undercuts entry-level automatic variants of the likes of the Mazda CX-5.

The front-wheel drive Life variants are kitted out with 17-inch alloy wheels, tyre pressure monitor, hill start assist, dual-zone air conditioning, dusk-sensing headlights, auto windscreen wipers, adaptive front fog lights, rear fog lights, LED taillights, rear parking sensors and a rear view camera as standard. The Life also gets a leather steering wheel, the brand's RLink2 infotainment system accessible through a seven-inch touch screen and cloth upholstery.

Stepping up to the Zen variant, which is available in both front- and all-wheel drive, adds 18-inch alloy wheels, an automatic parking brake, electric adjustable driver's seat, heated front seats, keyless entry, rear privacy glass, in-built sat nav and faux leather interior.

The Zen can also be optioned with  an electric sunroof and a safety pack that includes emergency braking, blind spot warning and forward collision warning.

The front-wheel drive Zen variant is priced from $33,990 while the new mid-tier all-wheel drive model is priced from $36,490. Both represent a significant saving over the outgoing model.

The range-topping Intens variant is available with all-wheel drive only and is priced from $43,490, an increase of almost $2000 over the outgoing range-topping petrol model.

However, the Intens increases the level of standard spec over the Zen by adding remote engine start, LED headlights, hands-free tailgate, leather upholstery with heated and ventilated seats, sunroof, ambient cabin lighting, a 12-speaker Bose sound system with a subwoofer and digital amp and the infotainment system is now accessible through an enlarged 8.7-inch touchscreen.

The Intens is also loaded with safety tech which includes the optional pack from the Zen but adds lane departure warning and park assist.
