Mercedes-Benz teases new X-Class dual-cab ute

German brand gives first glimpse of its forthcoming dual-cab ute.

Mercedes-Benz has pulled out all the stops with its first teaser of the new X-Class.

The German automaker released its an initial promo video depicting the upcoming dual-cab ute with a dramatic one minute clip.

It appears that the X-Class has been dulled-down from the previous concept versions with a less aggressive face and lower, squarer headlights that resemble those worn by the Nissan Navara with which it shares its basic underpinnings.

While it may share the same basic mechanicals as the Navara, it appears as if the X-Class wears completely different exterior panels giving it its own unique styling compared to the similarly Navara-based Renault Alaskan that only received a new nose.

At the rear, prominent LED taillights reminiscent of those seen on the three-pointed star's V-Class van dominate, but gone are the full-frame lighting and mesh tailgate of the concepts, which have made way for more traditional outfits.

No technical details have been revealed, but Mercedes-Benz is expected to combine its own parts with the basic Navara underpinnings, including a six-cylinder turbo diesel engine with a seven-speed automatic along with its own suspension and four-wheel drive systems.

The Mercedes-Benz X-Class is due to be revealed in full on July 18, with Australian deliveries expected in the first half of 2018.
