Mercedes-Benz issues recall for X-Class utes due to steering issue
Mercedes-Benz Australia has issued a recall of 6116 examples of its X-Class ute, with Model Years from 2018 to 2019 (MY18-MY19), due to a possible hydraulic fluid leak from the steering system.
The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says a connection on the hydraulic line could leak, which may result in a failure of the power steering system.
While the steering will continue to operate, it may become unexpectedly heavy and difficult to maneuver, increasing the chance of an accident occurring.
The brand says there are no known major instances of the issue affecting Australian owners, and the recall is a precautionary measure.
