Mercedes-Benz 190E Cosworth art car to feature in an exhibition
Melbourne-based street artist Drez is presenting his IN CHROMATIC exhibition, which includes the colourful Mercedes, this Friday 24 June at the Rialto in Melbourne.
Cars and art often form a strong connection.
The BMW art car program has blended the automotive canvas with famous artists since Alexander Calder first took a brush to the BMW E9 3.0-litre CSL 'Batmobile' in 1975.
For some local appeal, Melbourne street artist Drez applied his signature geometric art style to a W201 Mercedes-Benz 190e 2.3-16 Cosworth, producing a hand-painted, one-off art car - which is still driven on the road.
DREZ is exhibiting the 190E as well as a collection of other work from tonight (24 June 2022) at the KSR Gallery in the Rialto Plaza in Melbourne.
Producing the 'Chromatic Oscillation' artwork on the Mercedes took about 20-days, and was entirely hand done.
Artwork from the artist can also be seen on buildings and laneways around the city. The exhibition will run for about a week, and entry is free.
KSR Gallery is located at 525 Collins St, Melbourne.
