Limited-run McLaren 720S Daniel Ricciardo Edition revealed

The British sports car brand is cashing in off the back of the Aussie driver's stunning Monza Formula One win.

A limited-run ‘Daniel Ricciardo Edition’ variant of the McLaren 720S supercar has been revealed, exclusive for the Australian market.

Just three examples of the low-slung supercar will be built, all of which are slated for showroom delivery towards the end of 2021.

Finished in the same ‘Papaya Spark’ and ‘Burton Blue’ as McLaren's contemporary race cars, each vehicle will feature carbon-fibre sills embossed with Ricciardo’s signature, ‘One of Three’ dedication plates, '3' stickers (in reference to Ricciardo’s race number), and the Australian flag.

The car's mechanicals are unchanged, with the existing 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine sending 530kW/770Nm to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

This allows the 0-100km/h sprint to be completed in a claimed 2.9 seconds, on the way to a top speed of 341km/h.

Pricing is yet to be confirmed, however a hefty bump over the standard $489,900 before on-road costs 720S is likely.
