Maserati collaborates with Japanese street culture icon for special editions
The pioneer of Japanese street culture has hooked up with Maserati to create two limited-edition models.
The 2021 Maserati Ghibli will gain two special editions in collaboration with Japan's Fragment Design.
Maserati partnered with Fragment's founder Hiroshi Fujiwara on the special-edition Ghibli models, known as Operanera and Operabianca – offered exclusively in black and white, respectively.
Fujiwara is considered to be the godfather of Japanese streetwear, leading fashion trends in Tokyo since the 1980s, and having worked with some of the world's biggest brands over the years.
A total of 175 vehicles will be offered globally, with a unique mesh grille with Fragment badge, matte black 20-inch wheels, and Fragment logos on the C-pillars.
Inside, the Ghiblis are clad in leather and Alcantara, with contrasting silver inserts and dark blue seat belts.
Below the air vents is the code 'M157110519FRG': the first five characters related to the vehicle itself, the following six numbers celebrate the date of the first meeting between Fujiwara and Maserati, and the final three letters representing Fragment Design.
Pricing and specifications are expected to be announced at a later date.
