Land Rover Defender 90 owned by Queen Elizabeth II heads to auction

The two-door Defender 90 County covered just 1000km whilst owned by the Sandringham Estate.

A Land Rover Defender 90 County once owned by Queen Elizabeth II’s Sandringham Estate is set to cross the auction block later this month.

Offered in the Iconic Auctioneers Retro Race Collector’s 2024 Car Sale, the two-door SUV is set to be sold alongside a Land Rover Defender 110 Heritage owned by Rowan Atkinson — of Mr Bean and Johnny English fame.

According to the listing, the 2008 Defender 90 spent the first 18 months of its life in the care of the British royal family, where it amassed 1000km.

It was then purchased by a member of the public in 2010, where it covered a further 65,000km in the subsequent years.

As a County model, the Defender 90 benefits from a higher specification than the base model, with Galway Green paint and a black cloth interior.

Under the bonnet sits a Ford-sourced 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine producing 90kW/360Nm, combined with a six-speed manual transmission.

Due to be sold through Iconic Auctions on 24 February 2024, the 2008 Defender 90 County is expected to fetch between £30,000 and £35,000 ($AU58,000 and $AU67,000) when the hammer drops.
