Kia has confirmed it will debut a new "premium large SUV" concept at the Detroit motor show next week.
Confirming the news overnight alongside a swoopy teaser image, the South Korean manufacturer says the prototype, codenamed the KCD12 concept, was conceived at its Californian design studio and points "to a possible future premium large SUV in the brand's line-up".
"The concept offers an abundance of advanced technology – including state-of-the-art health-and-wellness technology – and takes Kia's design language in a bold new direction," a statement from the car maker says.
The US-centric release suggests the concept would be relevant for left-hand drive markets only. The largest Kia currently offered in Australia is the seven-seat Sorento.
Kia has dabbled in the full-size SUV market before when it released the Borrego in 2009, a vehicle that was scratched from US showrooms soon after but is still available in other markets.
Keep an eye out for more details on the concept when it is unveiled at the Detroit motor show next week.
