Jony Ive and Apple CFO Luca Maestri candidates for Ferrari top job – report
Apple iPhone designer Jony Ive and Apple CFO Luca Maestri are being considered for the position of CEO at Ferrari, reports news outlet Reuters citing Italian media.
This comes just days after Louis Camilleri left the top job at Ferrari, with sources claiming the unexpected decision was triggered by Mr Camilleri's recovery from Covid-19.
While Mr Ive is best known for designing the iconic Apple iPhone, Mr Maestri has overseen finances at Apple as it expanded to become one of the most valuable companies in the world.
Italian newspaper Il Messaggero is reporting Fiat-Chrysler Group boss Michael Manley is on the shortlist, as the company prepares to merge with Groupe PSA (which owns Peugeot, Citroen and a number of other brands).
Maserati COO Davide Grasso has also been raised as a potential candidate by Italian media.
Rumours have been running hot since Mr Camilleri made the announcement, with a source close to Vodafone CEO Vittorio Colao telling Reuters reports of his consideration for the job were "groundless", despite reports in Italian media to the contrary.
A pre-scheduled Ferrari board meeting is due to be held on Tuesday, which could see Mr Camilleri's replacement chosen.
