Joining the return of the i30 Trophy to the Australian market, Hyundai has announced a new limited-edition Santa Fe SUV, the Santa Fe Trail, is to hit showrooms this week.
Drawing its name from the famous 19th-century transport route through central North America (and the Errol Flynn film of the same name), the Santa Fe Trail edition adds a handful of safety and comfort features.
Safety in the big seven-seater is improved with the addition of a reversing camera that displays its view in the electro-chromatic mirror.
Passengers in the back two rows benefit from a roof-mounted DVD and audio CD player, which is also compatible with the Sony Playstation and Nintendo Gameboy. The system comes with two pairs of headphones and a remote control.
The package is bolstered with leather/leatherette seating trim, along with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and and gear knob. Tinted glass is also standard on all of the rear windows.
The Santa Fe Trail also features front and rear skid plates, chrome tailgate trim, gloss-black roof rails, 18-inch a signature badge on the tailgate.
Standard safety features include Electronic Stability Control with Traction Control System, along with driver and front passenger airbags, dual side front airbags and front and rear passenger side curtain airbags.
Rollover sensors are also standard, along with rear park assist, front and rear fog lamps, and cruise control.
Developed as a long-haul family mover, the Santa Fe Trail is offered only with Hyundai's 145kW/421Nm 2.2 litre R-Series diesel engine, mated to six-speed manual and automatic transmissions, and an all-wheel-drive layout.
The limited-edition Santa Fe Trail colour palette includes Vanilla White, Phantom Black, Stone Grey, Titanium Silver and Blue Spirit.
