Extra classy X-Class revealed
Mercedes tuner unveils $100,000 X-Class bodykit
Mercedes-Benz customers accustomed to the finest things in life might feel a little underwhelmed by the brand’s Nissan Navara-based X-Class ute.
Polish tuning house Carlex Design hopes to address that with upgrades for the X-Class ute based on the top-end Mercedes-Maybach range.
The new Mercedes-Benz X-Class Yachting by Carlex Design features the same Nappa Porzellan leather as the most expensive models to wear the three-pointed star.
The full-grain leather is used to wrap sporty Recaro seats finished with ornate stitching, contrasting with open-pore wood veneers used on the seatbacks and dashboard.
On the outside, wheels and a grille pinched from the Maybach S650 Cabriolet join a carbon fibre wide-body kit, teak-lined tray and limited edition badges.
Carlex says a complete car starts at €105,000 ($166,000) including the cost of a €37,000 ($58,600) base-model X-Class ute - the price climbs much higher if you start with a more expensive V6 model.
Carlex also offers styling treatments for the VW Amarox, Toyota HiLux and Mitsubishi Triton, though none quite match the Yachting’s panache.
