Custom six-wheeled Rolls-Royce mystery solved
If you had ‘one-off plaything for wealthy entrepreneur’ on your bingo card, you win!
The widebody, matte-black, six-wheel Rolls-Royce Phantom spotted at Schiphol Airport last week has popped up again, and this time things make a bit more sense.
Created by vehicle customiser Danton Arts Kustoms in France, the black Rolls has arrived in Dubai (of course) to headline a Web3 Crypto conference (of course) hosted by the car's owner, French entrepreneur Eric Favre, who is exhibiting it as a physical form of an NFT (of course) as a way of launching a crypto business on top of his fitness supplement empire (of course).
Danton Arts has a pretty extreme portfolio of custom machines, including a Lamborghini Espada hot rod with an exposed V12, a windscreen-less Ferrari 360 Modena speedster and Citroen 2CV 'rat rod'.
The customiser’s Instagram account hints at the development of the widebody Rolls-Royce, with a standard black Phantom shown next to three large off-road tyres aligned for sizing purposes.
We still don’t understand the whole NFT thing, particularly when it pertains to the ‘virtual’ art actually being offered in a physical form, as that pretty much means the token has been ‘funged’ – but hey, crypto, you do you.
Even if the giant Rolls-Royce was designed to be virtually rented in the metaverse (their words), the car is very real, and even drivable, and a pretty impressive custom build regardless of taste.
Expect it to show up on a Twitter profile photo driven by a one-off image of a sailing monkey in the near future.
