Caterham is reportedly planning three new variants for its Seven sports car in 2015, while also adopting a new naming system.
The UK’s Autocar reports the Seven line-up will be simplified with a numerical naming system, based on a model’s power-to-weight ratio.
This formula has already been adopted with the Seven 160 and Seven 620, which will continue to serve as entry-level and range-topping models respectively.
Current models names - the Supersport, Roadsport and Superlight - will reportedly be scrapped in favour of the new system.
Caterham is said to be appealing to more customers with its new system, by providing an easy performance differential based simply on the model’s numerical name.
