BMW has revealed European pricing for its upcoming i3 electric car, offering outright purchase options and, in the UK, lease plans.
UK motorists looking to buy the i3 will have a £25,680 (AU$42,650) starting point, which is around the opening price of the larger 3 Series in that market.
In Australia, the 3 Series range starts with the recently introduced $50,900 316i sedan, offering an idea of what sort of price the i3 could start from when it debuts here.
However, British buyers will also have the option of leasing the i3, with offers starting at £369 ($615) per month on a 36-month contract, with an upfront payment of £2995 ($4975).
And, if the initial lease-based launches of Nissan's Leaf EV and the Mitsubishi i-MiEV are taken as a preview of BMW Australia's plans, we could expect a similar start here for the i3.
The i3 is expected to hit Australia in limited numbers, with demonstrators due here later this year and public availability to kick off in the second half of 2014.
