Just weeks after announcing its green-focused i range, BMW's upcoming i3 electric vehicle and i8 hybrid supercar have been spied testing in Europe.
Wearing BMW's trademark psychedelic swirl camouflage, the i3 test car appears to feature nearly identical styling to the streamlined concept rendering revealed in February.
In the case of the i8 however, it remains unclear whether the hybrid supercar will launch with the complex finned rear-end of the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics body shown on the test car, or with the simpler rear styling of last month's rendering.
The i3, designed as a small city car, will draw power from an electric motor and, although BMW has yet to confirm any technical details, reports suggest a driving range of around 160km.
The i8, aimed more at enthusiasts, is expected be driven by either a petrol- or diesel-electric hybrid system.
In the case of the Vision EfficienctDynamics concept, a 1.5 litre diesel engine is combined with two electric motors to produce 245km/h and deliver a 4.8 second run to 100km/h.
