Audi TT final edition coming to Australia this year

One final special edition for the Audi TT is due in Australian showrooms later this year, as the iconic sports coupe nears the end of the road.

The iconic Audi TT sports car is set to be farewelled with a special edition in Australia later this year before production winds down sometime in the next 12 months.

Drive has previously reported on plans for a 'farewell edition' for the TT in Australia, as Audi prepares to discontinue the nameplate once the current model – introduced in 2014 – reaches the end of the road this year or next.

Audi Australia has confirmed in its online magazine a "25th anniversary model" is due in Australian showrooms "this year", with "more details to be released shortly."

The original TT was introduced in Europe in 1998 – making 2023 its 25th anniversary globally – though it did not arrive in Australia until late 1999.

Drive understands the TT special edition for Australia will be marketed as a 'final edition' rather than a 25th anniversary version, and will be pitched as a farewell for the vehicle as production prepares to end.

Audi is yet to confirm when global production for the current TT – the third generation of the model, now nine years old – is scheduled to end.

It is understood the final examples for Australia may roll off the assembly line towards the end of this year, or sometime next year.

Australia's final Audi TT special edition may follow in the wheel tracks of the UK's Final Edition which adds black exterior trim, upgraded wheels, Alcantara on the seats and steering wheel, and a range of optional extras included as standard.

It is not as comprehensive as the TT RS Iconic Edition introduced for Europe and the UK late last year, which gained an aggressive exterior aerodynamics kit including a front splitter, aero 'flics' and a carbon-fibre rear wing, plus Nardo Grey paint and unique seat trim.

Audi Australia product manager Matthew Dale told Drive earlier this year a final-edition TT was in the works.

"We think there's still an appetite for TT given its heritage," Mr Dale told Drive.

Audi TT RS Iconic Edition.

"So yeah, what we're working on at the moment is evaluating what we do as a lifecycle measure for that car for those enthusiasts that still follow TT in its current form.

"But until the point in time, which will be soon… we will announce something locally. [It’s] a local initiative that we're working on."

More details of the 2023 Audi TT final edition for Australia are expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks and months, ahead of Australian showroom arrivals by the end of the year.
