Aston Martin DBS returns

Iconic model to challenge Ferrari 812 Superfast for coupe honours.

Aston Martin’s iconic DBS badge will return on a new model positioned as the brand’s “flagship Super GT”.

Set to sit above the Vantage, Vanquish and DB11, Aston Martin says the new DBS Superleggera will be the “pinnacle of the spots car line-up”, featuring “the highest levels of performance, craftsmanship and design”.

Likely to ride on the same platform as the DB11, the model is tipped to feature twin-turbocharged V12 performance with more power than the 447kW DB11 coupe. The model’s Superleggera name suggests it will make extensive use of lightweight materials such as carbon fibre for even greater dynamic ability than the DB11.

Aston Martin chief creative officer Marek Reichman says the new model will be “the definitive Super GT”.

“When you hear the name DBS Superleggera, you know what it is,” he says.

“It’s an icon, a statement and this one will be no different. We’ve pushed the boundaries of performance and design to give this car a distinct character and ensure it’s worthy of the heritage and weight that this name carries.”

Full details will emerge closer to the model’s reveal in the second quarter of 2018.
