A new variant has been added to the 2024 Mitsubishi ASX line-up in Australia, due in showrooms later this year with a $500 price rise and safety technology upgrade for certain grades.

For 2024, prices of the Mitsubishi ASX have increased by $500 across the model range, now starting at $24,490 plus on-road costs for the entry-level GS manual – and topping out at $35,240 plus on-road costs in its flagship Exceed automatic guise.

The biggest change for the small SUV is the addition of a new ‘ES Street’ appearance package, priced from $30,490 plus on-road costs – identical to the ASX LS, and $3000 more than the regular ES.

Compared to the ASX ES, the ES Street adds a black front lip spoiler, tailgate protector and door handles – alongside black front and rear ‘skid plates’ (with red highlights), stainless steel door scuff plates, an aluminium and leather-wrapped gear shift lever, plus unique exterior decals.

The new Mitsubishi ASX ES Street does not gain any extra equipment compared to the standard ES beyond the visual changes.

It also goes without advanced driver assistance systems such as blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert and lane-change assist, which are available in the identically-priced ASX LS.

Elsewhere in the Mitsubishi ASX range, the SUV’s ES and MR grades are now equipped with lane departure warning as standard – previously exclusive to the LS, GSR and Exceed.

The Mitsubishi ASX is otherwise unchanged for 2024, with a 110kW/197Nm 2.0-litre non-turbo four-cylinder petrol engine driving the front wheels of the GS, ES, ES Street, MR and LS grades.

The flagship Mitsubishi ASX GSR and Exceed variants are powered by a larger 2.4-litre non-turbo four-cylinder petrol engine, developing 123kW/222Nm.

Only the entry-level GS is available with a five-speed manual transmission, as all other grades utilise a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

All Mitsubishi ASXs are sold with a five-year/100,000km warranty, which can be extended to 10 years/200,000km provided the vehicle is exclusively serviced by Mitsubishi dealers on schedule.

The 2024 Mitsubishi ASX is due in showrooms later this year.
